Tell students they are going to create their own globe on
the piece of fruit they brought to class.
-
Give students access to globes and maps.
-
Using nontoxic pens have them draw the seven continents on
their piece of fruit. Make sure they are aware they can start
wherever they want and from any direction.
-
Then have students find a partner and have them answer the
questions below. They will be writing travel directions, so remind
them to use words like "travel north" and "turn
right."
-
When everyone has finished, ask the students to share the
answers they came up with. Discuss why there may be several different
responses.
-
When the activity is over invite students to eat their fruit
globe.
Assessment:
The students will be assessed by making sure their globe is done
correctly and listening to their discussion.
Adaptation:
This activity can be done with oceans or the continents and oceans.
