By – Christine Nowakowski

Primary Subject – Social Studies

Grade Level – 7th

Objective:

To explain the pros and cons of adopting the constitution.

Procedure:

  1. Students will list arguments for and against the constitution and share their answers with the class while teacher writes answers on the board.
  2. Students will be grouped into teams and assigned each of the arguments. They will design posters illustrating the various arguments using a combination of pictures and words to get their message across. For example: a poster favoring the Constitution might show a map of the United States with new names for the states in French, Spanish or English and another map with the regular names with the slogan “Its Your Decision…. United States of America or France, Spain, England !!!”
  3. Summary Sharing: Students will show their posters to the class and display them on the classroom wall.
