Title – Loyalist or Patriot?

Here’s a great lesson for your children to learn, great for them and less work for you!!

First, divide the class into three groups, loyalists, patriots, and neutralists. It is best to have desks arranged into 3 groups.

Next, have the loyalist and patriot group discuss and elect the best speaker to the “podium”. (This can be a separate desk or something!)

Then, have both of the candidates try to persuade the neutralists onto their side. Make sure they include why, who was important in this step, and why declaring independence is bad or good.

Finally, have the neutralists vote for loyalist or patriot and count up the ballot and see if your class changed history!
