Teaching/Learning Procedures:

    A. Motivation:

-Ask the students to think back to last week and share some specific events that took place at home and at school.

-Write the responses on the board jumbled together.

    B. Instructional Procedures:

-Activate prior knowledge of timelines by asking when the students have seen and used them.

-Ask the students what do we need to do with all the information we have in such a small time frame. Introduce parallel timelines.

-Create a timeline using the student’s responses.

-Have different students come to the board and add the information where they think it should go.

    C. Closure

-Discuss what other types of information can be used on a timeline. How are they helpful? Compare and contrast the timeline we created to a historical timeline from the text.

-To incorporate technology, go to an online timeline creator, such as

      http://teach-nology.com

, to generate and print the timeline created by the students.
