Title – Back to School Scavenger Hunt

By – Barbara Silva

Primary Subject – Social Studies

Secondary Subjects – Math, Social Studies, Language Arts

Grade Level – pre-k

To help pre-K’s get to know their classroom and one another, have a scavenger hunt!

Students sit in a circle in the middle of the room. Teacher shows an index card to students. On it, there is a picture of one of the learning centers in the room, labeled, and an item to be found in that center. For example, Find in the Home Center, 2 teacups. Have the group “read” the card together, then hand the card to two students and have them go to that center, find those items and bring them back to the group. Allow students in the circle to make suggestions if needed. Have enough index cards to be sure each pair of students and/or learning centers are covered.
