Title – Rivers and Lakes in your state

Secondary Subjects -

Grade Level – 3

Materials:

a map of your state.

markers

Paper

Activity:

Find a map of your state and talk about the different river and lakes in your state. After discussing them figure out how the class is going to put the rivers and lakes on their map so that people know which is a river and which is a lake. Then have the students work together to make the map as a group. After the map is done have them make a legend for the amp.

Objectives:

To learn the difference between a river and a lake.

To be able to make a map of rivers and lakes in a state.

To be able to make a legend for a map.

To learn more about the state the children live in.

Extension:

Also make a map of mountains and/or parks in your state.

Also make a map of any oceans located on any sides of your state if there are any.
