Title – MAGIC EGGS By – Judy Schneider Primary Subject – Science Secondary Subjects – Science Grade Level – 6 – 8 (adaptable) SCIENCE PROJECT OF THE WEEK MAGIC EGGS PROBLEM: Does water get denser when you add salt or sugar? RESEARCH: Read about density in a science book or encyclopedia. Write two or three paragraphs about what you learned. HYPOTHESIS: How do you think the egg will act differently in the water without anything and the water with salt or sugar? MATERIALS: three clear glasses salt (about 3 tablespoons) PROCEDURE: DATA: Your data should include all the drawings and descriptions of what happened. CONCLUSION: This is not optional. You must explain what you learned by doing this activity. NOTE: BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN SIGNS YOUR WORK. PARENTS: YOUR SIGNATURE SHOWS YOUR STUDENT HAS DONE THE WORK. TEACHER SECTION: POSSIBLE CONCLUSION: Sugar water is denser than salt water, which is denser than plain water. Student should discuss the observations and why it happened.
