Title - Snowmen
By - Barbara Franks
Primary Subject - Art
Secondary Subjects - Language Arts
Grade Level - K-3
Materials: a piece of 8 x 10 white paper with the body of a snowman drawn on it, one for each student; glue; google eyes; buttons; cotton balls; thin strips of different colored ribbon; and black yarn unwound into thin pieces.
Directions: Each student glues cotton balls on the body of the snowman. Then glue on eyes and buttons down the front. The little ribbon gets tied into a bow and then glued on under his neck (smaller children will need your help). The black yarn is for the snowman's smile.
Extended activity: as a class come up with a poem that starts "Ten little snowmen standing in a line, one fell down, then there were nine...." This always starts a great class discussion on rhyming:)
