Title – Catch The Snitch (Harry Potter Game)
By – Gavin Thurkettle
Primary Subject – Other
Grade Level – 2-3
Equipment: All you need is the kids
Objective: To find the golden snitch by questioning three opponents
Split the class into two groups. Each group decides who in their group will be the “Golden Snitch”.
Then one person from the first group will step forward and ask one person in the second group a question about their Golden Snitch, like “Does the snitch have dark hair?” The group being questioned can only answer “yes” or “no”. If after asking a question, a group thinks they know who the snitch is, they can guess. If wrong, the other team is awarded 50 points. If they guess correctly, they are awarded 100 points and the game ends. The winner is the team who accumulated the most points in the time allotted.
Note from LessonPlansPage.com: instead of guessing who the “snitch” is, maybe students could guess the vocabulary word with questions like “Is it a noun?” or “Does it have a suffix” or “Is it a synonym for quickly?” The teams would get 1 point for each question asked and the team with the least points wins. Incorrect guesses take 5 points off of the opposing teams’ score.
