Have students draw a life-sized head (including a neck) on oaktag and cut it out. Students then decorate it with crayons, markers, yarn for hair, etc. to look like themselves. Have each student bring from home a pullover shirt of their own. For the evening of Open House, attach the head to the student’s chair back and pull the shirt over the back of the chair. Parents will love coming into the classroom and seeing their child wearing the familiar shirt sitting in the seat. The student’s work can also be displayed on the desk.
