Title – Cookie Game

Primary Subject – Music

Grade Level – 3-5

Use the chant “Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?”

I like to say “took” instead of “stole.”

Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?

(name) took the cookie from the cookie jar.

Who me?

Yes you!

Couldn’t be?

Then who?

Use the hand clapping pattern: patch, clap, snap, clap.

Say the chant with the group, trying not to skip a beat.

Game Variation:

Have students close their eyes and give a student a fake cookie or something similar. The student will hide the cookie in a pocket or somewhere close by.

You start the chant and continue until the person with the cookie’s name is called. When this happens, the chant will go like this:

Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?

(name w/ cookie) took the cookie from the cookie jar.

Who me?

Yes you!

*Here the person with the cookie can make up any comment about the cookie. Some 5th graders decided to say,

“Man, wasn’t that YUMMY!”

or

“I loved those chocolate chips!”

It’s a fun twist!
