Title – Note Value Pizza

I call this idea the “whole note pizza.” The kindergartners especially love this idea.

Make a pizza having four slices to teach a whole note gets four beats (four slices.) The slices of pizza are the quarter notes, (a quarter of the pizza)… and so forth. I also let the students take turns making up a story about our pizza, for example, if we eat half the pizza, there is only a “half note” left equaling two slices. To make this really simple, you can draw it on the white board with different colors. The kids always love to add toppings for fun.
