Title – Popsicle Piece Popsicle sticks are a great resource in the music classroom. 1. I use my sticks to create ta’s and ti ti’s on the floor and let the children create their own clapping exercises or compositions 2. I play a game where I ask a question and the answer is a two tap or a one tap word and the children must put their answers on the floor in ta’s and ti ti’s e.g. What color is the sky? The child would answer 1 stick on the floor representing a ta word (Blue). When all children have an answer in front of them, the answer is discussed. 3. This is excellent for “down time” as the children are asked to create a picture based on theme or must be a ti ti word etc For higher grades your can combine the two note times and have an answer or picture such as Mickey Mouse…Ti Ti and then a Ta See if you can find colored sticks. They make better pictures and you can collect per color. This is great for the Pre-Ks. They love the picture game as well. 4. For the older ones a clap could be written in sticks for listening exercises…. Endless possibilities ………
