Standards Met: (Science) 1.11 Identifies diversity of living things, 1.3 Recognizes parts of living things, 1.7.1 Identifies specific animals, 1.8.2 Identifies animals by movement, 6.4.1Describes observations/ideas, 6.4.3 Draws pictures of observations. (Language arts) 1.2.4 Demonstrates conversational skills, 1.2.5 Uses effective speaking strategies, 1.4.3 Matches written/spoken words.
Objectives: The objectives of this lesson are to see what the children have learned from our mini-unit, and to find out if are their questions have been answered.
Introduction: I will take out the chart paper that has the children's questions on it. We will discuss what we have learned from the Internet and the books on butterflies and caterpillars.
Lesson: We will write the answers to our questions on the "L" part of our K-W-L chart, and talk about what we wrote. After finishing this, we will watch The Magic School Bus and the Bog Monster.
Materials: The materials for this lesson are chart paper, markers, and the Magic School Bus video.
ESOL accommodations: This has accommodations for ESOL children because we will discuss and write down the words and thoughts that we discussed. If they have any difficulty, we can look again at the life-cycle cards or the books.
