Title – Caps for Sale Patterns

Objective:

    Students will be able to create a pattern using caps of two different colors.

Procedure:

    After reading

    Caps for Sale

    and familiarizing students with the story, construct a tree made of cardboard in front of your circle. Attach caps of different colors to the tree with Velcro. Have the students take turns coming up to pull the caps off the tree and place them in a pocket chart creating a two-color pattern. Then ask the students if they can create a three-color pattern.

Follow up:

    Have the students go back to their tables and create patterns using unifix cubes in small groups.
