Title – Story Pyramid By – Rita Bohanon Primary Subject – Language Arts Secondary Subjects - Grade Level – 1-3 Goal- Students write using appropriate form, conventions, and styles to communicate ideas and information to different audiences for different purposes. Objectives- Students will brainstorm ideas for a story they will collaboratively compose using the Story Pyramid. Students will compose individual stories after participating in composing a group story. Resources- overhead/transparencies, transparencies of Story pyramid, coloring utensils, paper/pencils Key Words- Brainstorming, characters, setting, problem, events, solution Procedures- Explain the model by using visual display to introduce and identify the elements of the model (see Story Pyramid below). Share examples that utilize the model. Review the model and share more examples. Students brainstorm ideas about a story they will collaboratively compose during the model. Students will then write individual compositions. After composing, students are encouraged to share their writing. Story Pyramid (put on transparency): Assessments- Students are assessed by their attention and participation during collaborative story. The individual story will have the following scoring rubrics:
