Title – We’re Going On A Bear Hunt

Grade Level – Kindergarten

Objective: The children will act out the story

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

as a way to retell the events of the story.

Materials:

    – The Book:

    We’re Going On A Bear Hunt


    – Pictures of the different obstacles the family

    comes across

    -Copy of the phrases on the color pages

Time: Approximately 15-20 minutes

Procedure:

    1. Read

    We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

    to the children.

    2.Explain to the children that they will be acting out the book. First they need to recall the order of the settings the family had to go through.

    3. Using the pictures, have the children place the settings in order. The children will then match the phrases to the pictures.

    4. Now with the help of the teacher the children will act out the story using the pictures as guides and acting out the journey of the family. (Teacher will tell the story, and the students can use the pictures as guides for what comes next)

    5. Closing: Ask the children what their favorite part was.
