Title – Expanding Sentences

Grade Level – 2-4

Introduction:

    Teaching students how to write a good sentence can be tough. However, this easy to use format works great!

Materials:

  • pencils
  • markers
  • paper

Procedure:

  • Fold a margin on the paper. On the first line write the words “Who/What”.

    On the next line, write “Did What”.

    Next line, write “Where”.

    Next line, write “When”.

    Next line, “Why”.

    Next line, “How”.

    Next line, “Which One”.

  • Each time the students write on a new line, they repeat what they wrote from the line below. Also, they underline the words that answer each word or words that answer their margin words.
