Title – Christmas Compare and Contrast

Primary Subject – Language Arts

Secondary Subjects – None

Grade Level – 3-6

1. Read aloud “The Mouse Before Christmas” by Michael Garland and then read aloud any version of “The Night Before Christmas.”

2. Hand out a Venn Diagram to each student. (two overlapping large circles.)

3. Have the students write all of the similarities of the stories in the overlapping section of the Venn Diagram. Have the students then write the differences in the separate parts.

Note: This works very well with mixed ability groups. Have the students work in pairs or use an overhead from which they can copy!
