Title – Just Me Without the Frills

It was not until I was 34-years-old that I decided I wanted to teach. Having spent not one day inside a college classroom, I was now attending full time and loving it. I graduated with honors and felt simply happy. I took on a first grade teaching position in a Catholic school. I wanted to change the world. Well, I was able to change the grades of my failing students to grades they were proud of. My heart and soul went into my work and it paid off. And if I could only change what was in my power, then I had not failed.

I looked back upon the road I traveled not knowing at the time where it would take me. Being a widow and
having to raise a child alone made my quest even more important to me. I wanted my son to be proud of me. I wanted to reach out and make a difference in the lives of other children. He is and I did. What an astonishing place this world is. I hope my story inspires and touches many lives.
