Introduction

    The world is facing an ever-increasing solid waste disposal problem.   The amount of solid waste we produce is escalating.  When improperly handled it poses a threat to our environment.  This unit is written to encourage solutions to this problem.

    The curriculum and activities introduce the students to the New Five R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, revise, and respond.  We encourage you and your students to learn about solid waste management and recycling.  Environmental education will help to create a better world for the generations to come.
