Title - "Special" Students
By - Mrs. Cheryl Stokes
I returned to teaching elementary music in Nov. 1997 after a 13 yr. break. At that time I had a student that could relate to music but was not very verbal. The wonder of music was reinforced because in a year, this student who was now in 3rd. grade was coming up to me in the halls talking to me and participating more in the classroom activities.
I enjoy teaching special education students. Many aren't verbal but they can do basic musical concepts and have a wonderful time doing the activities that I plan!
I still teach grades 1-6 and also a TMD class. I look forward to the "special" classes!!
