I keep a file of digital pictures throughout the school year. At the end of the year, I create a PowerPoint of the entire year. I use a beach theme the entire year, so I title the PowerPoint “Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away,” as the Enya song plays along. At the end of the PowerPoint, I have a slide for each child with a picture at the beginning of the year and at the end. Each child says who they are and what they will miss the most about 5th grade using a wav file. We invite the parents in for the show (about 30-40 min. show) and serve them rootbeer “floats.” Finally, I save the PowerPoint on a CD, print a class picture as the CD case cover, and give this as my end of the year gift. Up to date, all have truly enjoyed it!
