Title - The Weather in the World and in the United States
By - Debbie Haren
Primary Subject - Science
Secondary Subjects -
Grade Level - 2

Materials:

Different types of weather-related objects. Some examples are: wind vane, sun dial, kite, water collecting vial and anything else weather related. If you have any movies on types of weather this would be a good time to show them also.

Activity:
Discuss with the students the different items you have brought in that help forecasters predict the weather. Talk to them about what they do and what they are called.

A good example of a weather movie would be getting a copy of one of Bill Nye the Science Guy shows about weather. It is very interesting and is only about 20 minutes long. After watching the show have the students write down 3 things they learned from the show. Make sure the students know before they start watching it that that is their assignment so they will really pay attention and possibly take notes.

Have the students turn in the three things that they learned and after they are turned in the whole class can discuss what they wrote about.
