Here's the Web Page Handout.

Objective:
Student group will practice the appropriate skills needed to create a web page for posting on the Internet. Students will extend their understanding of creating a web page by creating a mock page, as practice.

Materials Needed:
Microsoft Publisher 98 or similar web development tool with preset templates
Web page guidelines

Estimated Time: 10 minutes of instruction and 50 minutes of project research

Procedure:
1.Sit with the students at a table away from the other students.

2.Re-read the directions in the guidelines sheet that was given to them.

3.Check for understanding by having students explain in their own words what they are to do.

4.Take the students to the computers, hand out the worksheet for creating a web page in MS Publisher 98, and have them stand around you as you demonstrate the process of creating a web page.

5.Go through each step of the directions; from opening the program, selecting one of the three templates, entering text, to saving document as a html file. Make sure students are following along on their sheets as you demonstrate. Answer any questions they may have as you proceed.

6.Inform them that they will all be working on one web page for their final project and therefore will assign each other the specific tasks outlined in the guidelines sheet. However, it is important that they all practice making web pages. Seat a student at their own computer (if applicable) or have students take turns, and tell them to create a quick web page on their favorite professional teams. Inform them that they are not to use graphics or sounds until they have finished their text entries and you have given them permission to practice inserting images.

7.Answer any last questions, tell them to help each other, and raise their hands if they get stuck.

8.Inform them that they have 20 minutes to practice before they must return to their seats to begin working on their design.

Evaluation:
The teacher will assess the accuracy of their work, compliance with the directions, and taking an active role in the project.

Homework:
None.
