The Colonization of Mars
Group Projects: A Short Play

Your group has been assigned the project of designing a play that represents what life on Mars might be like. Your play should demonstrate your knowledge of everything you have learned through your research and the research of your classmates.  That means that you should consider such things as gravity, lack of oxygen in the atmosphere, cold temperatures, and the reddish-brown soil.  Look at the guidelines below for more instructions.

Materials to be used:
Microsoft Word, Works, or Corel WordPerfect
Posters
Paper and pencil
Any art materials needed in the construction of props are available upon request.

Your play must include all the following:
1.  Each person in the group must participate in some way.
2.  Each member in the group must help with the writing of the play.  That means that everyone has to write some of the play.
3.   At least three props must be used.
4.   Music or sound effects are optional but recommended.
5.   Movement about the stage showing what actions are being made.
6.   Scripts must be typed, but handwritten copies will be placed in each students activities folder.

Suggestions:
1.   Each member of the group should choose a part of the play to create.
2.   One person could choose music that would be appropriate for the scene(s).
3.   One person could design the props or background on butcher paper.
4.   One person could write the introduction of the play that will be read to the audience.
5.   One person could choose the top 15 pictures taken in class and be responsible for making a collage to be placed on the board as part of the title of the play.
6.   One person could type up the play on the computer for all to have.
7.   Save your work on the computer often.
8.   Take your responsibilities seriously because others are counting on you.
9.   Have fun!
