Title - Producers and Consumers
By - Elisabeth
Primary Subject - Science
Secondary Subjects - PE
Grade Level - 3rd

Following a lesson on producers and consumers, have all of the students go to the gym or to an open area outside. Have the students form two lines, three feet apart, facing each other. One line will be the producers; one line will be the consumers. The teacher will call out an organism (for example, a tiger). The consumers will run after the producers and try to tag them. If the teacher calls out a producer, the producers will run and try to tag the consumers. Have a designated "safe" line on either side. If the team being chased crosses the line, they are safe. If they are tagged, then they are out. The game ends when all of the members from one team are out.
