Title – Grow a Green Flower

Primary Subject – Science

Grade Level – K-4

Notes:

This is a simple idea, but the kids love it.

If possible, plan this project in time for St. Patrick’s Day and let the kids take the “results” home.

Procedure:

Take white carnations and place them in water with green food coloring added. Each day, have the kids draw a picture of what they see or write about what they see. For older kids, you can explain the science behind this.

Extension Activities:

If time and interest permits, you could experiment using different colors and even by splitting a stem and placing each side in a different color.
