Title - Profesor of Science and the Human Body
By - Amanda
Primary Subject - Science
Secondary Subjects - Science, Other
Grade Level - 6-8
When your class begins studying the human body, on index cards, write down the names of different systems, such as the nervous system, respiratory system, or digestive system. Then have your class split off into groups of 3, 4, or 5. Assign each group a body system and then inform the class that they will do research of these systems, and each group will teach the class about it. Include a list of objectives for each system. (I am not including these because some teachers may have different objectives). Give your students anywhere from a week to two weeks to research, prepare a fun skit, poem, or song, write a report (this is to substitute for using a textbook), and have worksheets and handouts for their students.
This gives you a break from doing a lot of planning, and the students have tons of fun with this.
*Have your students grade each other within their groups because some students may opt not to help their partners. As long as you don't show the other students their grades, they will grade each other honestly. If you have any questions, email me at Jrmisscmp@aol.com
