Title - Moon Phases

I found a ditto that had a little booklet that the kids could make with the phases of the moon on it. I did a demonstration of why we can only see some of the moon sometimes by having three kids come up in front of the class. One was the sun, one was the earth, and one was the moon. I had the moon move around the earth while asking, "How much of (student's name) can you see now?" They really picked up on it fast saying that if the sun was only shining on one side you would only see half of the moon." I then had them color their little booklets showing how the moon looked in each phase. To kind of bring the lesson to a conclusion I drew different phases on the board and had the students tell me the name of the phase without looking in their booklets. After that a few of the students came up and drew different phases on the board while the rest of the students guessed the names.
