Title - Spring Time (Caterpillars)

We read the story the very hungry caterpillar and we make paper fruits with holes in them and have a sock puppet as a caterpillar. As you read the story the children feed the caterpillar puppet. Whatever the food is in the story, they have to count the fruit as they feed the caterpillar. When the story ends we let the children make their own sock puppet caterpillar and butterfly out of coffee filter that they have colored or used bingo stampers on. Put a clothespin in the middle to make the butterfly. Then the children can retell the story to family members to get the literacy out of the book to.
