Title - EGGS-CELLENT SCIENCE

Primary Subject - Science
Secondary Subjects - Art
Grade Level - K-4
MATERIALS: Coffee filters, food coloring, scissors
OBJECTIVE: Students will experiment with how colors combine to form new colors, how liquid matter is absorbed into the molecules of a solid.
PROCEDURES:
1. Discuss the primary colors in the order as they appear in a rainbow. (May also want to discuss molecules and matter depending on how you will use this lesson.)
2. Give each child a coffee filter (you can bring in the difference between translucent & opaque) Randomly drop food coloring on coffee filter. Ask children to write notes on their observations.
3. Spray water from a spray bottle on each filter. Ask children to note the changes on their observation sheet. Let dry.
4. Cut into egg shapes. Glue onto construction paper. Cut grass from tissue paper and glue around the bottom of the egg. Display!
