Lesson Plan Subject: Social Studies
Lesson Plan Title: Zoo

Social Problem Solving
   Engages peers in conversation during play
   Shares toys and materials with others
   Relates positively to others
   Divides and shares resources
Math 
   Identifies position
   Take objects apart
   Puts objects together
   Understands middle position

Materials:
   Manipulative zoo animals, table toys, blocks.

Teacher Preparation
   Cut out pictures of zoo animals and laminate 
   Set out interlocking zoo animals

Activity Procedure

1. Invite four children to work at the table.

2. Show children picture cards of zoo animals. Discuss each animal.

3. Ask children what size space various animals would need.

4. Discuss which animals would be good neighbors and which would be poor neighbors.

5. Ask children to build spaces for animals.

6. Complete lesson with an oral review of all zoo animals.
