Title - "Who Needs Geography?"
By - Michelle Beerbower
Subject - Social Studies
Grade Level - 6-9

Goal/Objective: To Help Make Geography Relevant to the Students' Lives Through an Inter-Disciplinary Lesson with English.

1. Brainstorm various occupations.

2. Verbally discuss the occupations that require the use of geography. (Examples include: Mailman, Professional Athletes, Rock Stars, Politicians, Pilots, etc.)

3. Students will then choose two occupations from the list and they will also be required to come up with two additional occupations not included on the list.

4. The students will write an essay explaining how each of the four occupations include Geography (i.e.: mental maps, etc.). Prior knowledge of the Five Themes of Geography would be helpful.
