Title – Seminoles Objectives:
-The students will be able to recognize the different names of the Native American tribes. -The student will be able to create a Native American Vest using a paper bag. -The students will be able to sing a Native American song. Materials
-CD -Transparencies -Map of United States -Information about the Seminole tribe -Paper bags -Magic markers -Crayons -Posters -Overhead Projector -Native American Symbol pictures -Scissors Procedure
We are Native American Tribe . Have the student hear the different names of the Native American tribes. -Then, ask for ten students to come to the front of the class. Give them ten posters with the names of the Native American tribes that the song mentioned. When the student hears the name that is on his or her poster, he or she has to put up the poster so that every student can see it. -Show the student where the different tribes were located using a United States map on the overhead projector. -Then, start talking about the Seminole tribe. Show the student different pictures about them. Explain their culture, and their customs. -Have the student interact with the pictures. Ask them what they see in the pictures and what they think about what they see happening in the pictures. -Play the second part of the song We are Native American Tribe . Tell the student that he or she needs to repeat everything that the women said in the song. Explain to the student that the song is in the Navajo language which is the language that many Native American speak. Closure:
