INTRODUCE CENTERS

This week we are learning about Land and Rail transportation. Introduce your set-up train and show them where the engineer sits, note a flagman, 2 people for crossing gates, passengers, first aid kit in case of an injury (and there will be lots!). Turn your kitchen table into a hospital, have coloring sheets ready for children who want quiet time.

I allowed the children to dress-up and bring their babies on board. If you have puppets or stuffed animals that would be good. You could have a circus train.

KITCHEN:

Utilize as the train station and use cash register to sell tickets.

Play Thunderstorm CD music and use a water spray mister to pretend that it is raining, flicker lights (unless there may be an epileptic light sensitive child) to imitate lightning.

OUTSIDE:

Utilize the tunnels as the children become the train and the animals in the train.

Dumbo

helps them imagine being an animal on a train.

Use gazebo or picnic tables as the train station and serve food outside.

SNACKS:

Animal crackers dipped in peanut butter, purchase donuts and orange juice, or just serve water or juice.

The children and I had a good week and if you can take dramatic play outside, it’s even better.
