Lesson:
Creating a family or personal crest is a good way to discuss family values or to learn about classmates.
Have a class discussion about family crests. Explain their features and what they mean.
Get the students to draw their own personal crest representing themselves or a family crest to represent their family. (The Family Crest looks like a shield divided into four parts.) It can include things like hobbies, family traditions, favorite school subject, favorite sport, pet, etc.
Students may want to orally present their work. (I find it better if they present it in front of their peers.)
Homework: Get students to research their real family crests. (This is an extremely British activity so some families may not have one).
