*INTRODUCTION:
“Lately we have been studying about different cultures and countries. Today we will find out more about how Spanish people live.”
*ACTIVITIES:
#1 Listen to Spanish style music and view photos of Spanish attire, houses, cities, and Spanish culture.
#2 Take a trip to an Art Museum to view Spanish art. View pottery, sculptures, writings, and paintings that have a Spanish theme. For lunch, go to a Mexican style restaurant.
#3 Have a class discussion abut the different types of food eaten at the restaurant, and the items observed at the Museum.
#4 From activities 1 and 2, have students write at least 5 differences they observed as compared to our American culture and read them aloud during class.
#5 Divide students into groups of two. Have them design on the computer a menu for a special Mexican dinner, using draw and paint tools, clip art, and graphics.
*CLOSURE:
Have class discussion about what country they would like to visit and why. Talk about the different way of life we observed. End lesson with a refreshment of chips and salsa.
*EVALUATION:
Evaluate the student’s comprehension of the activities by the observations they make in activity #4.
