Idea for Mardi Gras Celebration:
On Mardi Gras, otherwise known as FAT TUESDAY and Pancake Day, we play music that "feels" like cooking or carnivals. Prior to the day, we estimate the number of guests attending and amounts needed for everyone to feast on Pancakes. We make them and add some fruit or have a special theme. The children learn so much with estimating, measuring, safety, clean up, healthy choices..., the list goes on. We have been doing this for several years and it is always a hoot! Also, adding researched history of the day's origin and meaning helps kids to understand that it was/is a necessary holiday for many.
