Subject – Social Studies, MultiDisciplinary, Thanksgiving

Grade Level – 1-2

Draw a large circle for the body of a turkey. Draw a small circle for the head and a triangle for the beak. Draw two narrow, long rectangles for the legs and small, narrow triangles for the toes and long, narrow ovals for tail feathers. Cut these shapes from whatever color the children choose for their turkeys. A large rectangle or square will be pasted in the large circle on which the children will draw lines to write: I am thankful for….. They write the names of gifts that they got this year. They may write each on a tail feather. This activity covers shapes and numbers of feathers in math. For language they write, for art and craft they create a turkey by drawing and cutting and pasting. Before the activity they look at pictures of turkeys and read and discuss about them. This part covers listening and speaking in language.
