Title - Sharing

Subject - Social Studies, Language Arts
Grade Level - Kindergarten - First
Long Range Objective:
The student will be able to define sharing and give an example.
Instructional Objective:
The student will make predictions about events in the story.
The student will retell events from the story.
The student will make a journal entry of something they would
share with the class.
Set:
Ask children what it means to share. Have them tell about a time
they shared something.
Materials:
journals to write/draw in
pencils, markers, or crayons to draw and color with
Instruction:
Read What Mary Jo Shared. Have children answer predictive
questions throughout the book. Have children discuss some of the
things they might share with the class. Have them draw/write in their
journal about it.
Supervised Practice:
Have children retell events from the story.
Closure:
Have children turn to their neighbor and discuss the story. Did
they like it? Why or why not?
Assessment:
Listen to children's predictions.
Can they retell events from the story?
Observe journal entries. Did they follow directions? Do they understand
what it means to share?
