Here is an pre-holiday idea I am trying on my 10th grade class.

Students have written pages telling family stories, traditions and histories. They have also collected traditional family recipes. They have discussed their family trees. Now (right now!) they are collecting images from magazines to attach to a poster board (I have required only thirty images) which represent members of their families. Tomorrow, they will present their “collage” to the class in a brief speech. They will also present these collages and stories to their families at their holiday gatherings.
