The Three Branches of the Government
Materials:
3 pieces of big paper
About 9 sheets of regular paper
Markers
Have the students count off by threes. Put each group in a corner of the room. On each of the three sheets of big paper write one of the branches of government. Have each group assign one recorder. When you hold up a sheet of paper with one of the branches of government, the recorder should discuss what the branch does with his/her group. They have thirty seconds to discuss the answer and write it down on a piece of regular sized paper. Have each group hold their piece of paper up at a time. If they get the answer right, they get 3 points. If they get the answer wrong, they loose 1 point. At the end of the game, the group with the most points wins a prize.
