Title - Silly Soccer
By - Matthew Fernandez
Primary Subject - Health / Physical Education
Grade Level - 3-6

Culminating Activity: Silly Soccer:

Purpose: Students get a better understanding of the idea of soccer and this game will make soccer seem easier.

Equipment: court, 2 beach balls, cones

Students are split up into two separate teams. Goals are established on either end of the court and there are three different boundaries set up inside the court designated by cones. Each section is for a different positional player such as defense, midfield, and a forward position. These players are not allowed to leave their section and if they do, then the ball is turned over to the other team. 9 students are on the court at once with a goalkeeper. The other team members are lined up outside the court and act as sideline players. They are allowed to pass the ball to their teammates, but not steal the ball from the opposing player. Two beach balls are used instead of soccer balls and the students may kick, head, or hit the ball with their hands to knock it on the ground since it will float. After two minutes a whistle will be blown and each section will move up so defense become midfielders and so forth. The game ends when everyone has played each position.
