Read the book - Quiet as a Cricket
Discuss the concept of opposites. Read the first two lines of the book again which involve the words fast and slow. Have the children alternate between moving fast and slow. Take them outside and call the words, fast while they move fast, slow while they move slow. You can also have them make predictions such as how many times they think they can jump in a minute or how many times they can run the school yard in a minute. Use a stop watch and test their predictions.
