Title - Matball
By - Sam
Primary Subject - Health / Physical Education
Grade Level - 6+

This game should be played in a basketball gym.

Place one large exercise mat on each of the four corners of the boundary lines. Divide the kids into two teams. One team is outfield; one team is the kicker. A pitcher is selected from the outfielders and they pitch the kickball to the first person in line. If the kicker hits the ceiling, it's an automatic three outs. If an outfielder catches the ball, it's an automatic one out. If they are tagged with the ball, it's an automatic one out. If they kick it above a certain area in the gym, it's a deduction of one out. After they kick, it's like baseball: they have to try to run to the mats without getting tagged. They must return to the mat they started on in order to get 1 point. They must keep running in the direction they started. If they are on the mat and step off, even if they get pushed off, then they have to run. Once the kicking team gets 5 outs, the teams switch. At the end, the team with the most points gets candy!
