Subject(s): P.E. & Health Grades(s): Grades PreK-1, Grades 2-3

Title – George of the Jungle

By – Kimberly Williams

Primary Subject – Health / Physical Education

Grade Level – K-2

Overview:

Students will have to throw a ball underhand into a hoop, then they must swing on a rope and try to land in that same hoop. If they throw the ball into the hoop, they will receive one point; if they land in the hoop after they swing they will receive two more points. Two teams will compete against one another and the first team to 20 points will win.

Focus:

    Swinging, underhand throwing

Equipment:

    Balls, hula hoops, 2 ropes

Procedure:

To make adjustments to this activity, teachers could set up a line a good distance away from the hoop and then after students threw the ball, they could walk up to the line and try to jump into the hoop. If students could not handle the swinging or the jumping, then you could simply have them try to throw the ball or roll the ball into the hoop for points.
