Title - All About Me
By - Raye Nero
Primary Subject - Other
Secondary Subjects - Language Arts, Art
Grade Level - 2-5
The name of this lesson is "All About Me". The materials you will need for your students are:
Pre-made patterns of a human head so students can trace it and create a self-portrait. Multicultural construction paper-it's best to give students the color that matches their skin color best. Colored pencils, markers, and crayons.

Each student will create a self-portrait by tracing the pattern of the head and drawing in facial features and hair around the top. Color in eyes, lips, hair, etc.

Then have each student write a paragraph about themselves. This can be displayed along side the portrait on a bulletin board or outside in the hallway or on your classroom door. It is a great way for students to get to know each other. Also on Back-to-School night, parents enjoy looking at the portraits and reading about the students.

A good way to help students with writing the paragraph is to show them a sample of yours. (example: My name is ____________. I am __________ years old. I am in the _________ grade at ________________ school. My favorite subject is__________________. When I am not at school I enjoy _____________________. I have _____
brothers and _____________ sisters. My pet ___________
name is ________________. I plan to make this school year my best year because _____________________.)

These are some of the many sentences you can have your students add to the paragraph about them.
