The "Me Bags" (a lesson idea here on LessonPlansPage.com for the first day of school) were a great idea. I used them last year with a different slant. I placed items in a bag to introduce their "new teacher" to the class (i.e. family picture, favorite book, crochet needles as I like to crochet, etc.). At the end of the presentation, I let a student take the bag home and return it the next day with something about themselves to introduce to the class. Each child could hardly wait until it was their day to take the bag home.
