Note, this great idea is easily adaptable to almost any grade level and subject!
I got this idea from the first grade teachers at New Brighton Elementary. This is something you can do on the first day of school or sometime during the first week. The idea is to create a “Time Capsule” which would include a few things that would be repeated at the end of the year to show growth and development. For example, you could include: a drawing of themselves, the alphabet and a writing sample written by the student, their height and weight, a survey of their likes and dislikes and anything else you can think of. It’s exciting to repeat the exact activities at the end of the year and see each students progress. The children and their parents are delighted to see how far they’ve come!
